A short term for 'silicon chip'.
Another name for a 'chip' is 'integrated circuit.
A silicon chip is an electronic device of some kind. There are two main types of silicon chip - Analog and Digital.
Digital chips include memory, microprocessors, and digital processors as you will find in a computer.
Analogue devices include Analogue-to-Digital converters, amplifiers and radio chips as you may find in a mobile phone.
